Supported Employment

Supported Employment is one of the programs offered at our Employment Training Center, located at 204 S. Cherry St. in Harrison, Arkansas. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

At Independent Living, Inc., we believe that a majority of people feel their lives are enriched by the performance of useful work activity. Who doesn’t enjoy feeling useful? Valuable? Like part of a

team producing a needed item or service? Individuals with disabilities are no different than the rest of us! They have more abilities than disabilities, which allow them to perform in a variety of jobs, including cleaning, bagging groceries, running machines, and answering phones, among other things. The possibilities are endless!

Our Supported Employment program includes a range of services that assist individuals with developmental disabilities who need intensive ongoing support to attain employment and perform in a competitive work setting. Available services include job training, job search, job placement, and job coaching. For those individuals for whom employment in the community is not possible, we provide opportunities for work activity through contracts with manufacturers for piecework and assembly work and through the production of goods for sale, such as baskets, soap, and wood furniture. The SE program is designed to promote optimal functioning in a work environment, and provides learning opportunities that enhance multi-tasking skills, productivity, and teambuilding.
